People Wearing Masks

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention receives many questions from the public and the answer as many as they are able to on their website. One question that people ask is, “Which last longer, immunity after getting Covid-19 or protection from Covid-19 vaccines?”

The CDC answer is that protection that we get from an infection, which is called natural immunity), will vary depending upon the disease and varies from person to person. “Because this virus is new, we don’t know how long natural immunity might last. Current evidence suggests that getting the virus again (reinfection) is uncommon in the 90 days after the first infection with the virus that causes COVID-19.”

The CDC goes on to say that they won’t really know for sure how long the vaccine will last and who it will last for until there is more information. We know that the disease leads to people dying, especially those people that have compromised immune systems. The thing about immune systems is that many people never find out that their immune systems are compromised until they get sick. This is why we wear masks and practice social distancing because in the end we do not know who will have a severe reaction to Covid-19.
